Keep Showing Up!

Thank you to everyone who came out to “Hot & Bothered: It’s Time To Change The Gender Ratio in New Media & Tech” for breakfast yesterday morning. The feedback was off the charts, the Twitter chatter ongoing, and the possibilities stratospheric (adjective in honor of awesome panelist Esther Dyson). Our panelists were amazing, offering a wealth of information, insight and advice from their own experiences launching, running, covering and otherwise being imbued in enterprises in the new media and tech space - so a big thank you to Michelle Madhok of SheFinds, Alexa Hirschfeld of Paperless Post, Joanna Stern of Engadget and Esther Dyson of EDventure for their terrific, honest, and uber-helpful commentary.
Some great & succinct advice from each:
Alexa: Work hard and be awesome.
Joanna: Standing out isn’t a bad thing.
Michelle: Just show up - then figure it out.
Esther: Don’t be afraid to fail.
There was more - read a write-up here at The Vault, check the feedback at the #ChangeTheRatio hashtag, watch the replay at Watchitoo - but those were some pretty decent takeaways to remind us all that we can do whatever we want…once we decide to take the ideas out of our head and make them happen.
Hope you all found the event as inspiring as I did. And I’m so glad that everyone got to take a seat and enjoy some breck! I filled up a box with the leftovers after and took ‘em to the office, because I am a NURTURING WOMAN (i.e. my ovaries told me to). Just kidding. Thanks again to the Trump Hotel, Watchitoo, Propel Enhanced Water and especially 85 Broads, our partner in this overall mission of recognizing and encouraging women of excellence, creativity, inspiration and action.
Now get out there, ladies!
XX,
Rachel & Emily
