Another great talk by Fred Wilson - this one at the Paley Center. Notably, Fred says “I think education is a media business,” and elaborates that, “Teachers are talent; Curriculum is the content; Classrooms are the theater.” See his education comments around 30:00.
This was a great event, with superb moderation. Highly recommended.

Attended a dynamite workshop this week on Gamification, run by Gabe Zichermann. He’s written a book on it, is consulting for Google about it, and is doing a video and another book on the topic for O’Reilly, the well-regarded tech publishing house (responsible for my beloved Head First…
Incredibly useful from Jocelyn. I highly encourage the clickthrough.

This past Thursday, we were very excited to host the FoundersCard party at the AHAloft. Good news for anyone who loves music and loves it even more when served up through the wry and wise and super-funny Maura Johnston, formerly of Idolator. It was on PopDust that I learned that Britney Spears has a new single called “Hold It Against Me.” Hee hee. I need to find a way to use that on this blog.

As I have noted before, Rebecca Traister is probably the foremost expert on the intersection of gender and politics in the country today. Her piece regarding Giffords’ emerging role as a dynamic example of the new breed of female politician in the U.S. is an essential element of the larger unfolding story.

In his latest essay, Paul Graham describes the difference between what he calls the maker’s schedule and the manager’s schedule. Makers–the writers, coders, designers, editors, creative types–need half or whole days to produce anything that solves complicated problems. Managers schedule out their workdays in hour-long blocks. When managers schedule makers into midday...

Wait, what?
I am amazed at this quote. Have people forgotten about Dee Dee Myers already? Former White House Press Secretary during the first term of the Clinton Administration? Regular on the pundit circuit? Author of the smack-your-forehead-in-this-context titled Why Women Should Rule The World?
And, even more recently on the opposite side of the aisle, have people forgotten about Dana...
